ABOUT MYSELF |
| I
am a professional chemical engineer. Since 1985 I have been dealing
with reverse osmosis and water treatments. I started out my career as
an employee and as of 1993 and currently I am a consultant. |
MY ACTIVITY |
| I estimate, I design, I build, I install reverse osmosis units. I also start and run them in Italy and abroad.
|
REVERSE OSMOSIS |
Nowadays reverse osmosis is one of the safest and most economical technologies in desalting waters of various origins.
Reverse osmosis technology uses the properties of membranes, namely the
semi permeable membranes, which allow a portion of water from a
solution to pass while salts are retained, concentrated and finally
discharged.
Reverse osmosis units work on a continuous basis (i.e. a continuous
feed flow enters the unit. It continuously separates on the membrane in
a low salinity flow, or permeate, to be used, and in a high salinity
flow, or reject, to be sent to the drain). |
MEMBRANE SEPARATIONS |
Various
membranes are available on the market. They show different capabilities
in removing substances from solutions. Depending on their
characteristics we can mark reverse osmosis, nanofiltration,
ultrafiltration and microfiltration. Reverse osmosis membranes
can effectively remove particles with molecular weights less than
approx. 200 and/or with sizes less than approx. 0.001 micron (ions,
viruses and bacteria).
Nanofiltration membranes can effectively remove particles with
molecular weights ranging approx. from 200 to 10000 and/or with sizes
ranging approx. from 0.001 to 0.01 micron (ions, micromolecules,
viruses and bacteria).
Ultrafiltration membranes can effectively remove particles with
molecular weights ranging approx. from 10000 to 100000 and/or with
sizes ranging approx. from 0.01 to 0.1 micron (macromolecules, viruses
and bacteria).
Microfiltration membranes can effectively remove particles with
molecular weights ranging approx. from 100000 to 500000 and/or with
sizes ranging approx. from 0.1 to 1 micron (microparticles).
Larger size particles can be effectively removed by means of standard mechanical filtration techniques.

APPLICATIONS |
A proper use of membranes allows many important results in fluid treatments.
By means of membranes you can remove salts and many pollutants (if any)
from waters of various origins. Product water can finally meet
requirements for human use, for field irrigation, for cattle feed, for
boiler feed, for steam generation, for critical industrial washing, for
medical use, for production of a lot of industrial goods.
By means of membranes you can separate, purify and/or concentrate
various fluids (while working at room temperature) to improve
industrial processes.
By means of membranes you can control the analysis of waste waters
before you discharge them. You can also recover from civil and/or
industrial wastes clean water for its reuse and valuable products (if
any).
Combined use of membranes and other technologies optimises the use of
available resources aiming to the so-called zero discharge system. |
MY OFFER |
| I
offer high level consulting on reverse osmosis and water treatment to
both Manufacturers and final Users in order to size, make and run their
units. The offer includes problem solving, maintenance, teleassistance,
updating of old units, assistance in purchasing spare parts and in
contacting main world Suppliers. |
